I never dreamt of being a mom

I didn’t have that innate maternal desire that I guess a lot of people have… I knew I wanted a family but I was never the girl dreaming about becoming a mom one day.

Then, once upon a time, I met my now husband and I was like – wait – it’d be kinda cool to have kids with this guy. Still not feeling a strong “knowing”, but this curiosity about having kids perked up a little more. Over time, it grew and grew and starting a family became something I really wanted.

Five-ish years later, we were brand new parents. And it rockeddddd me. It was a complete transformation. So hard.

We are now two years into parenthood and while there are challenges FOR SURE, I seriously love it so much.

I love watching my toddler dance to her favorite songs. I love my four month old’s gummy smile. I love what it’s teaches me about me. I love seeing my husband as a dad. I love our kids’ purity. Being a mom is such a meaningful part of my life.

I think it’s ok to not have strong instincts (about purpose, kids, career, etc.) – but maybe there’s a curiosity.
